Why should you use essential oils?

Why should you use essential oils?

Essential oils are mainly used for two reasons:
  • For their fragrance
  • For their health-promoting properties
The fragrances in essential oils are volatile, which means that the fragrance molecules disperse easily even at room temperature. They are therefore excellent for creating a lovely scented environment in the home. With a diffuser, the fragrances are mixed with water vapor and spread throughout the room. Essential oils are also completely natural and come from different plants and plant parts. Take Evoroma's lavender oil, for example. It takes about one kilogram of lavender flowers to make 10 ml of essential oil. So when you buy a bottle of Evoroma Lavender, you get the scent of a whole flower bed!
With a diffuser, you can spread this scent throughout your home. Because the essential oils are so concentrated, you only need to add a few drops to your diffuser to make your home smell amazing. In other words, one bottle goes a long way!
As far as health-promoting properties are concerned, they are different for different oils, just like the scents. Aromatic plants and essential oils have been used for hundreds of years to both relieve ailments and alter states of mind. Some have an uplifting effect, others bring calm and tranquillity. Essential oils are made up of natural chemicals that can help people feel better. 'Aromatherapy' is the therapeutic term used to describe the health-promoting properties of different oils. Aromatherapy advocates both inhalation (e.g. using a diffuser) and topical application. Topical use means applying the oil to the skin. As essential oils are highly concentrated, they should not be used on the skin directly from the bottle - they are too strong! Instead, when used topically, they should first be diluted with a so-called carrier oil, such as coconut or jojoba oil.
On our essential oils category page, you can filter by both the scent types of the oils, but also their properties.
Combining different oils is entirely possible with a diffuser. You can do this both to create your own magnificent scent images, and to create a mixture with the properties you want for the day.
At Evoroma, we have developed four pre-blended oils, which both smell fantastic and have different uses:
  • Energy: for energy and focus.
  • Calm down. For relaxation and peace of mind.
  • Sunshine. To lift your spirits when everything feels gray.
  • Go to sleep. To bring calm and make it easier to fall asleep.
